Saniflo Compact Macerating Toilets

A compact macerating toilet is the ideal solution when installing or connecting a traditional toilet to the main sewage line is difficult or impossible — especially in places like basements, garages, or remote additions.

How a Compact Macerating Toilet Works

The operation is simple: water and waste are drawn from the bowl, then macerated and pumped through a small-diameter discharge pipe connected to the main sewer line.

Saniflo compact units integrate the macerator directly into the ceramic bowl. Instead of a traditional tank, they use an electric solenoid valve to rinse the bowl with a precise water jet — making them exceptionally water-efficient.

Depending on the model, the maceration process is performed by a blade, impeller, or grinder driven by a powerful electric motor. Some units, like the Sanicompact, can even connect to an additional fixture, such as a sink.

Installation Requirements

Installing a Saniflo compact toilet is quick and straightforward. You’ll need:

A cold water supply line with a shut-off valve.

A standard grounded electrical outlet nearby.

A 1¼” to 1½” PVC drain line (depending on model) connected to the main waste stack.

Simply connect the water line, attach the discharge elbow to your drain pipe, and plug in the unit — and you’re ready to go!

Note: All Saniflo units include a built-in check valve to prevent backflow and false starts.

Tips for Optimal Operation

Maintenance

Only flush toilet paper — never flush wipes, hygiene products, or foreign objects.

Use a Saniflo-approved descaler every three months to keep the unit clean and functioning properly.

Soundproofing

Place a vibration-dampening mat under the base to reduce noise transfer.

Ensure the unit doesn’t touch the wall directly to avoid amplified vibration.

Anchor the discharge pipe securely to the wall using rubber-lined pipe clips every 3 feet for maximum acoustic insulation.

Pumping and Discharge

Saniflo compact toilets can pump waste vertically and horizontally. To optimize performance, reduce the number of bends in the discharge line.

Use two 45° elbows instead of a single 90° elbow to minimize flow resistance.

Do not connect other fixtures to the discharge line between the toilet and the main stack.

Include a trap (P-bend or raised loop) after the unit to prevent siphoning effects in the discharge line.
