Saniflo Gray Water Pumps

A gray water pump is the perfect solution for handling domestic wastewater, especially where gravity drainage isn't possible — such as when the main sewer line is far away or above fixture level.

Saniflo pumps allow bathrooms, kitchens, or laundry areas to be installed almost anywhere. They are commonly placed indoors under sinks, near washing machines, or next to showers.

Note: Do not confuse a drain pump with a macerating unit, which also handles toilet waste (black water).

How a Saniflo Gray Water Pump Works

Saniflo pumps have one or more inlets and can connect to multiple fixtures such as sinks, showers, or washing machines. Some models, like the Sanicom range, handle water up to 194°F.

When wastewater enters, a pressure switch activates a motor, which drives an impeller to pump the water through a small-diameter pipe to the main sewer line. These pumps can lift water vertically if needed.

Installation Requirements

Grounded electrical outlet

PVC pipes and PVC solvent glue

Connect the pump to the fixtures and to the discharge line, then plug it in — and it's ready to go.

Note: All Saniflo pumps come with a built-in check valve to prevent backflow and false starts.

Best Practices for Optimal Performance

Maintenance

Clean occasionally if used for greasy or hard water conditions.

Do not pour chemicals like solvents, paint, or caustics into connected fixtures.

Use mesh strainers in sinks and showers to prevent clogs from hair or food particles.

Noise Reduction

Place a vibration-damping mat under the unit.

Avoid direct contact between the pump and surrounding walls.

Secure discharge pipes with rubber-lined clamps every 3 feet.

Discharge Optimization

Minimize the use of elbows.

Use two 45° elbows instead of one 90° elbow to reduce friction.

Dedicated Discharge Line

Never connect other appliances to the pump's discharge pipe. Its high flow rate could cause backflow in those units.
