Sanivite – Heavy-Duty Drain Pump for Gray Water in Residential and Commercial Applications
The Sanivite is a high-performance drain pump engineered to handle gray water from a wide range of residential and commercial fixtures. Designed for heavy-duty use, this compact system can discharge wastewater up to 16 feet vertically and 150 feet horizontally, even when handling hot water and grease. Its compact footprint allows it to fit neatly inside a kitchen cabinet or beneath a whirlpool overhang.
Built for Tough Applications
The Sanivite is built to meet the demands of the most challenging gray water environments. Its robust design and exceptional pumping capability make it ideal for kitchens, utility rooms, and other high-demand areas. A pressure chamber automatically starts and stops the motor, which is sealed for life inside an oil-filled enclosure for long-lasting reliability.
The motor drives a spindle-connected impeller, keeping moving parts to a minimum. Once activated by incoming water, the motor discharges the effluent, then shuts off when the water level drops. Operating cycles can be as short as 2 to 10 seconds, depending on the layout of the discharge piping—ensuring low power usage.
Fixture Compatibility
In addition to sinks, the Sanivite supports:
Bathtubs and showers (must be installed on a raised platform of 2" x 6" or 2" x 8" to accommodate a P-trap and proper slope)
Urinals and whirlpools
Washing machines (via indirect connection through a laundry sink)
Flexible Inlet and Discharge Design
The Sanivite features two 2-inch side inlets and an additional 1.5-inch top inlet, allowing multiple fixture connections. The top-mounted discharge elbow can be rotated to the left, right, or rear for installation flexibility. A non-return valve comes pre-assembled on the discharge outlet to prevent backflow into the unit.
Venting and Electrical Safety
The unit includes a vent connection on the lid, which must be connected to a standard two-way air vent system per plumbing codes. Mechanical vents and air admittance valves are not acceptable. It is also strongly recommended that the pump be connected to a Ground Fault Interrupter (GFI) circuit for safety.
Certifications
The Sanivite is certified to meet North American electrical safety standards:
U.S.: UL 778 Electrical Standard
Canada: CSA C22.2 Electrical Standard
