Saniaccess 2 – 1/2 HP Macerating Pump System for Half-Bathroom Installations
The Saniaccess 2 is a 1/2-horsepower macerating pump designed for installing a half-bathroom in locations up to 15 feet below the sewer line or as far as 150 feet horizontally from a soil stack. It features a high-performance macerator capable of handling human waste and toilet paper in residential settings. The hardened stainless steel blade ensures long-term use without the need for servicing or replacement.
Reliable Internal Design
Internally, the system includes a pressure chamber that triggers the start-stop cycle, along with a motor that powers both the macerator blades and the pump. When the toilet flushes, water enters the unit, activating a microswitch in the pressure chamber. This action starts the motor, sealed in an oil-filled housing for lifelong protection.
A single spindle powers both the impeller and the macerating blade, minimizing mechanical complexity. Wastewater is rapidly processed as the blades rotate at 3600 RPM, reducing solids into slurry. This mixture is propelled through a grill and collected by the impeller beneath the motor, which then discharges the effluent vertically (up to 15 feet) or horizontally (up to 150 feet, with a gravity drop).
The motor shuts off automatically once the water level decreases, preparing the system for the next flush. A typical operation cycle lasts only 10 to 12 seconds, ensuring low energy consumption.
Additional Gray Water Handling
In addition to toilet waste, the Saniaccess 2 can also manage gray water from a sink. The gray water enters through a 1-1/2” side inlet. Either side of the housing can accommodate the vent or act as an additional inlet, depending on your setup.
Flexible Discharge Configuration
The discharge elbow at the top of the unit can be oriented to the left, right, or rear to suit your plumbing layout. A pre-installed non-return valve prevents any backflow into the unit, enhancing safety and reliability.
Ventilation and Electrical Considerations
The system features a 1-1/2” vent connection on its side. To comply with plumbing regulations, this must connect to a traditional two-way air vent. One-way air admittance valves or mechanical vents are not permitted. Additionally, for safety, it is recommended that the unit be connected to a Ground Fault Interrupter (GFI) circuit.
Easy Maintenance Access
Routine maintenance is simple and doesn’t require disassembly of the toilet or plumbing. One service panel provides access to the motor’s electrical components and level sensor. A second panel opens to the macerating basket area, enabling the removal of accidentally flushed items.
Compatibility and Installation Requirements
The Saniaccess 2 must be used with a Saniflo rear-discharge toilet. This toilet uses less water than standard models and is only compatible with Saniflo systems. Required components include the toilet bowl (model 083 or 087), toilet tank (005), and macerator unit (081). An optional extension pipe (030) allows the pump to be installed behind the wall for a clean look.
Certifications and Compliance
The Saniaccess 2 meets both U.S. and Canadian macerating standards:
United States: CSA Certified & IAPMO (UPC) listed – ASME A112.3.4
Canada: CSA B45.9 Macerating Standard
