DIY Or Professional ?

SFA Saniflo products are ideal for DIY enthusiasts — they’re easy to install, dependable, and built to last.

However, it’s important for users to recognize their limitations. Attempting an installation beyond one’s skill level can damage the unit, void the warranty, and turn a simple project into an expensive problem.

For those seeking peace of mind and a professional-grade installation, SFA Saniflo provides access to a network of certified installers. Customers are encouraged to consult this list to ensure their system is installed to the highest standards.

The 7 Rules

Rule 1

Begin with Vertical Discharge

Vertical discharge must be done at the beginning of the waste line (1). From the highest point of the discharge (2), a minimum slope of 1% is required to ensure proper flow.

Rule 2

Use Two 45° Elbows Instead of One 90°

When installing elbows on the discharge pipe, prefer using two 45° elbows rather than one 90° elbow. Wider-radius curves reduce pressure loss.

Rule 3

Respect Gravity Flow Between Fixtures and Pump

Ensure there is a gravitational slope between the sanitary fixtures and the SFA macerator to allow gravity to feed the waste water to the pump.

Rule 4

Install a Vent Valve for Downward Discharge

If the discharge pipe goes directly downward, a vent valve (air admittance valve) must be installed at the highest point to prevent siphoning.

rule 5

Maintain Correct Pump Position Behind the WC

The unit must not be installed more than 10" behind the toilet or at a lower level than the toilet bowl.

Rule 6

Connect to Main sewer line from Above

The macerator’s discharge pipe must be connected to the main line from the top and in the direction of the flow.

Rule 7

Use Dedicated Discharge for the Pump Only

No other sanitary appliance must be connected to the small-diameter discharge pipe that is specific to the macerator.
