Sanigrind Pro – 1 HP Grinder Pump System for Full Bathroom Applications
The Sanigrind Pro is a 1-horsepower grinding pump system designed to install a complete bathroom in locations up to 25 feet beneath the sewer line or as far as 150 feet away from a soil stack. Its integrated grinder mechanism makes it ideal for demanding environments in both residential and commercial settings such as rental units, office buildings, and warehouses. The system is built to manage items that may be flushed down toilets, including sanitary napkins, condoms, q-tips, and dental floss.
Robust Internal Construction
Inside, the Sanigrind Pro houses a pressure chamber that controls system activation, and a motor that powers the stainless steel grinding blade and pump. Once the toilet is flushed, incoming water activates a microswitch in the pressure chamber, which then starts the motor. This motor is permanently sealed in an oil-filled enclosure for long-lasting reliability.
A single spindle drives both the impeller and blade, keeping mechanical complexity to a minimum. As the blades spin at 3600 RPM, they reduce waste to slurry, which is then ejected by the impeller located beneath the motor. The unit can discharge up to 25 feet vertically and/or 150 feet horizontally (with gravity-assisted flow). The system deactivates automatically once the water level drops. The cycle duration varies based on the pipe configuration.
Handles Multiple Fixtures
In addition to processing toilet waste, the Sanigrind Pro also handles gray water from various sanitary fixtures, including sinks, bathtubs, showers, urinals, and washing machines (via indirect connection). When installing a bathtub or shower, an elevation difference of at least 8 inches is required between the pump base and the fixture to allow for proper P-trap installation and a 1/4” per foot gravity slope toward the unit.
Two 2-inch side inlets allow for versatile fixture connections. The 360-degree rotating discharge elbow provides flexible installation options. A built-in non-return valve prevents wastewater from backing up into the system.
Ventilation and Electrical Safety
The Sanigrind Pro includes a lid-mounted vent connection that must be tied into a compliant two-way venting system. Plumbing regulations do not permit the use of mechanical vents or one-way air admittance valves. Additionally, the unit should be connected to a Ground Fault Interrupter (GFI) circuit for optimal safety.
Maintenance Access and Compatibility
Maintenance is straightforward, with a dedicated service panel allowing access to both the electrical components and the level sensor. The Sanigrind Pro must be paired with a standard bottom-outlet toilet. The connection distance from the toilet to the pump must not exceed 36 inches and should include adequate gravity fall.
In commercial applications, plumbing codes require the use of an ADA-compliant elongated toilet bowl with this system.
