Sanipack – 1/2 HP Macerating Pump System for Concealed Bathroom Installations

The Sanipack is a 1/2-horsepower macerating pump designed to install a complete bathroom up to 15 feet below the sewer line or as far as 150 feet horizontally from a soil stack. Equipped with a durable macerator system, this unit efficiently handles human waste and toilet paper in residential applications. The blade, crafted from hardened stainless steel, ensures long-lasting performance without the need for maintenance or replacement.

Internal System and Motor Design

Internally, the Sanipack features a pressure chamber that governs start and stop functions, along with a sealed motor that drives both the impeller and stainless steel macerator blades. When the toilet flushes, the incoming water activates a microswitch within the pressure chamber, which starts the motor. This motor is permanently sealed in an oil-filled enclosure for dependable, maintenance-free operation.

A shared spindle powers the impeller and blades, reducing the number of moving components. As the blades spin at 3600 RPM, they convert waste into slurry. This is expelled through a grill and collected by the impeller, which then pumps it out. The unit can discharge effluent up to 15 feet vertically or 150 feet horizontally (with a gravity fall). Once the water level drops, the unit automatically deactivates. A full cycle typically runs 7–9 seconds, keeping energy usage to a minimum.

Multi-Fixture Compatibility

In addition to toilet waste, the Sanipack also accepts gray water from a sink, shower, or urinal. When installing a shower, a raised platform—made of 2” x 6” (minimum) or 2” x 8” (recommended) framing—is necessary to accommodate a P-trap and ensure a 1/4” per foot gravity flow toward the pump.

Two 1-1/2 inch side inlets provide flexible connection points for incoming wastewater. The top discharge elbow can be adjusted left, right, or rear-facing to match installation needs. A built-in non-return valve prevents backflow into the unit.

Ventilation and Electrical Safety

The unit includes a vent connection on its lid that must be integrated into a standard two-way air venting system. Plumbing codes prohibit the use of mechanical or one-way air admittance valves. It is also highly recommended that the pump be connected to a Ground Fault Interrupter (GFI) circuit for added electrical safety.

Minimalist, In-Wall Installation

Designed for use with wall-hung toilets, the Sanipack’s shallow profile allows it to be fully concealed within the wall. By hiding the macerator, tank, and piping, this installation style delivers the sleek, contemporary appearance of a European-style bathroom.

Compliance and Ordering

The Sanipack system meets certification standards in both the United States and Canada:

U.S.: CSA Certified & IAPMO (UPC) listed – ASME A112.3.4

Canada: CSA B45.9 Macerating Standard

The Sanipack (Model 011) is sold as a standalone pump unit. Toilets, showers, and cabinetry are not included.
